Funkanometry is a dynamic Hip Hop and Popping dance duo from Vancouver Island, Canada. Jacksun Fryer and Carlow Rush came together through their love for dance and shared goofy personalities, leading to the formation of “Funkanometry.” The duo spent their first two years competing in local dance battles and classes, receiving many high-class awards and recognition for their performances. Their electrifying performances garnered extraordinary reactions from the audience, and they knew they had something special. In 2018, Funkanometry became Popping 2v2 Finalists at Nanaimo BattleZone against world-class battlers. Their breakthrough came in 2019 when they were scouted for NBC’s World of Dance, where they impressed judges Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, and Derek Hough with their performances. Funkanometry even returned for Season 4 of the reality TV show in 2020.
After the show, the duo gained a significant following on social media, and were interviewed on multiple international televisions, newspapers, and magazines. But it wasn’t until 2020 that their online presence took off. With the pandemic shutting down live performances, Funkanometry decided to take their craft to the internet to keep people connected and entertained. Like Funkanometry, people simply wanted to feel happy in a scary time. For this reason, people began to follow Funkanometry’s online journey. On May 9, 2021, they posted a dance video to “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees, which went viral and has now garnered over 60 million views. From then to the present, Funkanometry has gone viral numerous times from their other videos such as “Crazy,” “Beat It,” and “Don’t Stop Me Now.” Regardless, the “Stayin’ Alive” video is what led them to be scouted for America’s Got Talent in 2022. After their aired audition, Simon Cowell praised their performance was “fun and original”. Howie Mandel said their performance was “so good on so many levels.” The boys made it to the show’s semi-finals. Since then, Funkanometry has continued to post online, gaining a larger loyal following they call the “Funk Fam.” In December 2022, Funkanometry’s video to Eurythmics, “Sweet Dreams,” caught the attention of none other than Annie Lennox, who reposted it on her social media channels. The duo was over the moon to receive recognition from such an iconic figure in the music industry. But this wasn’t the first time that Funkanometry had caught the attention of famous artists. They have also been reposted by Bon Jovi, Toto, Backstreet Boys, etc. Regarding live performances, Funkanometry have become frequently returning performers at NHL’s Vancouver Canucks Games. In June 2023, Funkanometry won Vancouver Battlezone in the 2v2 “Open Styles” Category against various prestigious dancers. With their infectious energy and love for dance, Funkanometry hopes to grow and expand in the entertainment industry even more.
The boys are continuously enchanting audiences with their live performances, captivating crowds at weddings, halftimes, birthdays, graduations, corporate events, and more. Additionally, they continue to share their passion through captivating online videos and offer dance lessons for individuals of all ages and skill levels. They are VERY grateful for their Funk Fam’s support and can’t thank them enough for keeping them inspired.
